தஞ்சை மறைமாவட்டத்தின் புதிய ஆயராக பேரருட்திரு முனைவர் சகாயராஜ் தம்புராஜ் அவர்கள், 18 ஆகஸ்ட் 2024 ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை அன்று ஆயராக திருநிலைப்படுத்தப்பட்டார். 24 ஆகஸ்ட் 2024 சனிக்கிழமை மாலை புதுகை பங்கிற்கு வருகை தந்து, நம் திரு இருதய ஆண்டவர் ஆலயத்தில் மாலை திருப்பலி நிறைவேற்றி ஆசி வழங்கினார். ஆயரை வரவேற்ற நம் பங்கு மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் நன்றிகளும் ஆசீர்வாதமும்.

Sacred Heart Church

Pudukkottai is a historical place and has been formed as the 15th State in Tamil Nadu and has its own history of great people dedicated to the Nation. Christianity developed in this place and Sacred Heart Church constructed over 100 years ago. There are evidence that Catholic people lived in this place over 135 years ago. That times, in the town, there were Churches constructed for St.Anthony and St.Sebastian separately in East Main Street near Anna Statue, Clock Tower and Jubilee Memorial. Actually, Pudukkottai was under the control of Avoor Parish under Coimbatore Diosese. This church work has been completed and on 23rd April 1911, blessed and opened by Trichy Bishop Most Rev. Augustin and dedicated to Sacred Heart of Jesus and Sacred Heart of Mary. Until December 2011, a Priest from Trichy came and celebrate Sunday Holy Mass. Now on Sundays, Four Holy Mass Celebratred in Church.

Church History

April 1911: Church Opened and Blessed and Dedicated to Sacred Heart of Jesus and Sacred Heart of Mother Mary.
December 1912: Pudukkottai Parish Formed including Machuvadi, Chettiapatti, Thirukokarnam, Namanasamuthram and Rajagopalapuram.
April 1930: Pudukkottai Parish under Mylapore Diocese as per the Agreement between Portuguese Government and Vatican.
November 1952: Thanjavur Diocese separated from Mylapore Diocese and Chennai Diocese joined with Mylapore Diocese.
June 1956: Rev.Fr.Kardosa joined the Church as 8th Parish Priest and served until 1973 with many Catholic Religious Acts.
November 1973: Rev.Fr.Pigneyira joined the Church as 9th Parish Priest and formed Parish Council and Vincent De Paul Society.
